Art Trail Planned for Keswick Island

Keswick Island artists to benefit from $5,656 in Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Green Arts grant for an ephemeral arts trail opening in July 2022.
According to the applicant, Eva Browne-Paterson, local artists will create and showcase seven artistic pieces using recycled marine debris in key locations on Keswick Island. The project has been accepted as a fringe event in the Mackay Festival of Arts programme to be held at the end of July 2022.
“We plan to hold a tourism event with Wild Cat Mackay bringing 40 guests and local MPs on the official opening day to review the art trail.” The RADF Committee said, โ€œWe feel it is an exciting concept with great potential to develop local skills and attract visitors to Keswick Island.โ€ย

TRC Parliamentary Inquiry Under Way

Finally, after Amanda Camm, Pat Weir & Fiona Simpson visited #keswickisland last year, the strategy they came up with; to have a parliamentary inquiry into all the Great Barrier Reef Island resorts owned by foreign investors is under way. ๐Ÿ˜Š
You can help by having your say & making a submission to the committee chairing the inquiry. Amanda Camm is lobbying to be included in the committee as she has regional experience & a vested interest in the outcome. New Wildcat Catamaran Set to Service Mackay


Red Cat Adventures will be launching their new Wildcat All-Inclusive Day Tours on the 1st December 2021 from Mackay Harbour. This is really exciting news for tourism in our region!

“Wildcat” is a 17m custom-built catamaran made specifically for Mackay conditions that ensure a smooth, comfortable ride with great viewing and photo opportunities. Destinations Wildcat will be visiting include Cockermouth, Brampton, Keswick, St Bees, and Scawfell islands, as well as some secret, unexplored spots.

MPs Visit Keswick Island


On 22nd June 2021, Amanda Camm, Whitsunday Member, Fiona Simpson, Shadow Minister for Integrity & Gorvernment, State Regional Development & Infrastrucure and Pat Weir, Shadow Minister for Natural Resources Mining & Energy visited Keswick Island to meet with KIPA members. The ministers were here to see Keswick Island first-hand and to gather information to apply for a parliamentary enquiry into the mismanagement of Queensland assets in the Whitsundays. The meeting was very positive and we are hopeful for a good outcome.

Depending on the weather, we usually gather for Australia Day games on Keswick Island. Whether it’s thong throwing, egg & spoon races or Finska. In the past we have dressed up in Aussie gear, decorated our buggies & enjoyed a picnic together while proudly flying the Aussie flag. 2021 was the absolute best Australian Day we’ve ever experienced with more than 50 boats joining in the celebrations!
